Profile

My name is Rhonda Higgins and I am the Founder and Program Director of Future Linguists, LLC. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages & Literature, Spanish, from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University and a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from American InterContinental University. After over 22 years as a Spanish language educator and teacher leader in the Winston Salem Forsyth County School System (WSFCS) I have decided to take a leap of faith and develop a language immersion program, beginning with the "Into the Linguaverse" summer camp 2024.

Over the years in our district we have seen a decline in  elementary world language offerings.  I can remember when my oldest daughter started elementary school , (She's 20 yrs old now.) our district offered world languages beginning in 3rd grade, however it was taken out of schools because of the expense and no state funding for world language teacher positions.  Future Linguists, LLC will help close this gap in programming in the district by offering a program where native English & speakers of other languages, will have access to  learning world languages and cultures  in a fun and engaging way as we go "Into the Linguagverse!".

Meet the Team

Rosemary Amalemba-Hi everyone! My name is Rosemary Amalemba. I am from Kenya, East Africa. I have been living here in the states for a long time. I am a teacher and I love to teach different subjects. Since I speak Swahili, I thought it will be a good idea if I can teach you the introduction to Swahili. What do you think about that? Learning a new language is always fun and I hope you can join me into this journey of learning Swahili. I cannot wait to see you join my class. See you soon!

Patricia Tavares- Ms. Tavares is a native Portuguese speaker from Brazil. She has several years of language acquisition teaching and is currently an ESL teacher in the WSFCS school district.

Dakota Artimisi- Dakota (he/him) is a sophomore at Parkland High School. His hobbies include visual arts, reading, and collecting vinyl records. He has experience with babysitting children when he was younger, and he enjoys working with them now. Dakota hopes to help inspire young kids through this summer camp and to let them have fun with art and let them show their creative sides.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Learning is natural

Young children have lively minds from the start. We strive to make the most of this natural quality by enabling them to experience, investigate, care about others, interact, develop and create. We strive to deepen and strengthen children’s natural abilities by providing them with the healthiest environment possible.
